Privacy policy

Weighted Utensils is a static HTML site with no user accounts. The hosting server records standard access logs (IP address, page requested, browser type, time) for security and traffic counting and deletes them on its normal rotation.

Search terms are recorded. When you use the search box, the term you typed, the number of results it returned, the time, and a short one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) are written to a log on our server. We read that log to see what people are looking for and to write the pages that are missing. It is not tied to a name or an account and is not shared.

Messages sent through the contact form (name, email address, message, and the IP address the form was sent from) are emailed to the research desk and kept as ordinary mail so we can reply.

This site uses third party tools to count visits and to see how pages are used. They set cookies and run scripts in your browser, and each provider processes the data under its own privacy policy. The tools in use or planned are listed here, and this section is updated when a tool is added or removed.

Google Analytics 4 records the pages you view, the links and buttons you use, the search terms you enter, how far you scroll, the site that sent you here, your browser and device, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. Google states that it does not log or store the IP address. We see aggregate reports, not who you are. How Google uses information from sites that use its services. The Google Analytics opt-out add-on stops it in any browser.

Google Search Console shows us which Google searches led to this site and how its pages rank. It reads Google's own search records and places nothing in your browser.

Microsoft Clarity records how a page is used: mouse movement, scrolling, clicks and taps. It can replay a visit as an anonymised session recording and combine visits into heat maps. Text typed into form fields is masked before it leaves your browser. Clarity sets cookies to tell one visit from the next. Microsoft privacy statement.

Advertising and other tools. If this site runs adverts later, a measurement pixel from that network (for example the Meta pixel) may be added so the network can tell whether its adverts led to a visit. Any such tool will be named in this section.

Turning them off. Content blockers and the tracking protection built into most browsers stop these scripts. You can also block or clear cookies for this site in your browser settings. The pages, the search and the reviews work the same without them.

Fonts load from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font file is requested.

This policy was last updated on 2 September 2026. It changes whenever a tool is added or removed.
